~ Take Your Medicine Tour ~ (Wolverine Records, Germany)
Bender’s Tavern, 314 E 13th, Denver, Colorado 303.861.7070
Special Event: Friday, 12/8/06
Direct from Vancouver, British Columbia … my friends Big John Bates and the Voodoo Dolls, held a spectacular performance at Bender’s in Denver this last friday. It appears that Denver might be annually on their circuit, and if so, I’ll be in my bliss. It’s really tough to explain this band in words - fantastic Rock-a-billy, Psycho-billy, dark rock n’ roll, with a twist of sounds like “The Stray Cats” and “White Stripes” with a sense of rhythm you can really dance to. Accompanied by the beautiful troupe of Voodoo dolls, who every other song do a burlesque performance or skit - from fire spinning to role playing nurses giving audience members “their medicine”. This tour is one of their most scintillating ever … and celebration is in the air as they preach their new CD. In addition in 2006 to be pleased that their music and performance was headlined in Vancouver’s International Burlesque Festival & the Voodoo Ball; played on season 3, episode 1 of Battlestar Galactica; and 2005 started by receiving first Canadian Jagermeister band endorsement. Big John as the singer, guitarist, and lead; sCaroline spanking the bass with outrageous twists, turns, and moves in her playing; in addition, adding in spectacular bellydancing performances; and the new addition JT Massacre on the drums. Little Miss Risk and the new arrival Ruby Roulette will melt your soul …. in dance, trance, and enchantment. If BJB and the Voodoo Dolls come to your town, it would be a big mistake to miss them … so step right up and “Take your Medicine” at a bar near you. Tour dates can be found at their web site. Highly recommended! Rating: 5+ stars out of 5.

The Siren Project (Live @ Cafe Netherworld, Denver, CO)

| The Siren Project Live at Cafe Netherworld, Denver, Colorado August 19, 2006: 8:30-9:30 PM, opening for “Faith and the Muse” http://www.thesirenproject.com/ On their Eighth year August anniversary, The Siren Project did a grandiose performance opening up for “Faith and the Muse” at Cafe Netherworld, Saturday the 19th, at that wonderful cafe/bar known as “Cafe Netherworld”. The artistic talent that is The Siren Project, transformed Cafe Netherworld’s back pool room in a ethereal fairyworld stage where both acts performed. Audience inclusionary, the Siren Project brought in attendees to help with drumming as Margaret and Alex mesmerized the remaining audience with their charm, vocals, and enchanting music. There was much adlib that added to the night’s charm for both acts, especially since they were handicapped with their bass player out on injury leaving the act up to Alex and Margaret. With audience 180 degrees surrounding them, everyone had a great view and felt included in the performance. It was a otherworldly experience. Rating 4.0 stars. Viewed: 8/19/06. |

Blended with keyboardist Alex Seminara, drummer Arbon Reimer, bassist Ian Preston and guitarist Greg Stretton, be prepared for an acoustic journey when hearing them together. Haunting and otherworldly melodies will intertwine with simple rhythmns and subtle riffs pleasing almost all audiences. She received “Best Female Vocalist” in 2001 (Colorado), and has been a repeat performer for several years at the Colorado Dark Arts Festival. They contributed their music to the “Education in Infestation” double disk project along with H.R. Giger, Clive Barker, Joe Coleman, Jello Biafra, and many other great artists.
